Waipuna Hospice has a high profile in the Bay of Plenty for providing specialist community palliative care.  Our geographical reach covers Waihi Beach to Paengaroa and while our focus is on hospice-at-home, we also have an established inpatient unit and we support a large community team.  These services are funded through DHB contracts, fundraising and income from our charity retail shops.

Job Description

ABOUT THE JOB

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced person to lead our Family Support Team. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this role is 35 hours per week and will provide operational, professional and clinical support to our established Family Support Team. 

If you have experience in or wish to continue to develop in the Palliative environment, we are looking for you!

This role provides care co-ordination of an interdisciplinary team including nursing and day to day management of a team of Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, Counsellors, Bereavement Support, Chaplain & Spiritual Care Providers. You will be leading and managing others within an interdisciplinary care team collaboratively to deliver specialist palliative care. To be successful you will strong communication and time management skills.

ABOUT YOU

Our successful applicant will have:

  • Leadership experience, be able to demonstrate influencing and negotiation skills and coaching
  • Relevant psychosocial/ Allied Health graduate qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience would be advantageous. Palliative care or related health field would be desired
  • The ability to think on your feet and be a confident problem solver.
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Experience facilitating groups/ meetings
  • Strong people management and networking skills
  • Well-developed organisational and prioritising skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and at times competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
